Gel Manicures: Tips For Healthy Nails

Although gel manicures can be beautiful and long-lasting, they may be hard on nails. Gel manicures can cause brittleness, peeling, and cracking of nails. Repeated use can increase the risk of skin cancer and premature aging of hand skin.

To keep your nails healthy before, during, and after applying the nail gel, the dermatologist suggests the following tips:

Proactively communicate with your manicurist. Ask each customer whether the tools are disinfected and look around to make sure he or she cleans and disinfects the tools. Also, never let your manicurist push or cut your cuticle, as this may cause inflammation and infection.

Consider using traditional nail polish instead of gel polish. This is especially important if your nails have recurring problems or are allergic to acetone because acetone is necessary to remove the nail polish gel.

Wear sunscreen. Before applying gel manicures, apply a broad-spectrum waterproof sunscreen of spf30 or higher to prevent skin cancer and premature skin aging. This will help protect your skin from UV rays, which are used to seal nail polish gels and nails. Another option is to wear dark opaque gloves and cut off your fingers before applying nail polish.

Don't choose Colorful Gel Polish. When the nail polish starts to fall off, don't fiddle with it, and don't use other nails or tools to remove it. Instead, you should make an appointment with your manicurist to wash off the nail polish.

Just soak your fingertips in acetone. When removing the nail polish, you only need to soak your fingertips in acetone, not the entire hand or fingers, to protect the surrounding skin. Another option is to use a cotton ball to remove nail polish. Soak a cotton ball in acetone, wrap your fingertips with aluminum foil, and apply it to your nails. This will ensure that only your nails come into contact with the acetone. After 15 minutes, the nail polish will fall off.

In order to take care of your nails while applying nail gel, dermatologists recommend the following:

Have a nail polish holiday. Try not to apply nail polish for one to two weeks or longer. This will give your nails time to repair.

Moisturize your nails. Before applying nail polish, apply a moisturizing product, such as petroleum jelly, to the nails and cuticles several times a day. This will reduce brittleness and help prevent your nails from falling out.

UV gel polish is a nail polish that allows you to enjoy the beauty.

Check the nails for up to 3 weeks. The main difference between classic nail polish and UV gel nail polish lies in the composition and needs to be cured on LED or UV lamps.

As with most things, moderation is the key when using gel nails. Consider applying custom UV Gel Polish only on special occasions. If you find any unusual changes in your nails or long-term problems with your nails, contact us.
